She points to what Texas did after ProPublica published the story of Porsha Ngumezi, who suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks but was left to bleed to death at the hospital:

"A day after this story was published, the Washington Post reported that the Texas maternal mortality board would skip reviewing the deaths of pregnant women in 2022 and 2023 — conveniently, the first two years after the abortion ban went into place."

Further evidence that Republicans are attempting to suppress evidence that their abortion bans are putting women's lives at risk:

"The Texas decision comes on the heels of a similar move in Georgia, which dismissed the maternal mortality board members to punish them for giving journalists the facts about the deaths of two other women killed by that state's abortion ban."
