The most frustrating things to get right via CSS only are the micro animations. Because I cannot do them using any files, I have to kinda faux-replace them via CSS by using pseudos, base64 and hacks and animating those. Also because the element size will change depending whether it has a number or not, it's difficult to keep it in place.

This is why I have disabled the boost animation for now. The heart and star animations are staying in place, because they either have less numbers on instances that have numbers or no number at all.

We have already suspended about a dozen spam acocunts and at least temporarily blocked about 6 servers.

skull360 We have now successfully upgraded to v4.3.0-beta.2+mementomods-2024-09-17 + Mastodon Bird UI 2.0.0rc50.

The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 79 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-09-07.

This is mainly a security patch.

As usual, please tell our admins about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.

skull360 We have now successfully upgraded to v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-09-07 + Mastodon Bird UI 2.0.0rc49.

The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 167 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-08-23.

This version contains some fixes to both Mastodon and Mastodon Bird UI. Our instance has been using the new grouped notifications feature for over a month now, but today on top of that we have the new content warnings UI available in our instance with bunch of other changes and fixes.

We also now have the new Administration and Moderation nav for admins and mods. The support for this has been added to Mastodon Bird UI nightly version.

As usual, please tell me about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.

We just released Mastodon 4.2.12, fixing a bug introduced in 4.2.11 which caused notifications for mentions from local moderator accounts to be dropped. If you updated to 4.2.11, we strongly recommend you to upgrade to 4.2.12.

Version 4.1.19 is not impacted.
