We just shipped a major update to the https://loops.video website, in preparation for the app release!
We will resume sending account onboarding emails this weekend with everything you need to get started using Loops 馃
Loops.video will need mods, and I'm building a suite of mod tools.
I'm open to feedback, and will setup a form on the website for mod applications, I'm looking for trusted and established people that either already moderate or admin an instance.
The amount of work will depend on activity, and most of the reports I will handle depending on load, with you sometimes deciding on a user appeal, with the ability to veto my initial decision.
Mods will have more power than me, as they should!
Loops Update:
I'm nearly finished the Help Center and legal docs that are requirements for inclusion into the App Store and Play Store.
I'll share another update in 12 hours with more info and hopefully an ETA
Loops FAQs
- You will be able to upload videos from your Camera Roll
- You can share videos up to 60s
- Video captions can be up to 200 chars
- Mentions and hashtags aren't supported yet, but you can add category tags
- Sounds and remixes will be shipping next week
- Profile Pinned Videos will be shipping next week
- The first 5k users will have a special profile badge, and early users will have a Day 1 badge

- We need to migrate to a bigger server before we can onboard more users

I've decided to delay the Loops Camera feature and focus on other features so we can ship the beta ASAP!
This means you will have to upload videos from your Camera Roll.
You can use an app like CapCut for video editing and upload the export.
It's the little things, like implementing argon2di password hashing and going the extra mile by saving old hashed passwords to detect and prevent re-use in a safe way!

The Loops "For-You" algorithm is something I want to discuss at some point
It's so very technical and boring to most people, but the lengths I've gone to replicate a basic version of the TikTok one is nothing short of legendary.
It involves on-device machine learning, efficient backend processing and a hybrid collaborative approach, that may or may not be fine tuned 馃槑
