In case you are a web UI user like myself, you will notice that the UI has changed quite a bit. As with every UI change, some people like it and other don't.

In order to provide you more options, I have imported multiple additional web themes, both for single and multiple column layout ("advanced web interface" in the settings). They also adhere to your light/dark settings of your browser.

1. Tangerine

This UI is available multiple colors schemes, so there will certainly one to your liking.

2. Bird UI

This UI is made to look like the old Bird site. A bit nostalgia right there.

Would like to thank them both for these beautiful themes. In case you like it, go spend them a coffee. They deserve it.

To select the themes go to Preferences --> Appearance and choose your favorite.

Be sure to select "Enable advanced web interface" in case you want to use multi columns.

The most frustrating things to get right via CSS only are the micro animations. Because I cannot do them using any files, I have to kinda faux-replace them via CSS by using pseudos, base64 and hacks and animating those. Also because the element size will change depending whether it has a number or not, it's difficult to keep it in place.

This is why I have disabled the boost animation for now. The heart and star animations are staying in place, because they either have less numbers on instances that have numbers or no number at all.

This is a major upgrade and congrats to @MastodonEngineering for this milestone.

We also just updated #BirdUI to the latest version that supports this verson. (Thanks @rolle) If you see any UX oddity, or have questions LMK.

skull360 We have now successfully upgraded to v4.3.0-beta.2+mementomods-2024-09-17 + Mastodon Bird UI 2.0.0rc50.

The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 79 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-09-07.

This is mainly a security patch.

As usual, please tell our admins about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.

skull360 We have now successfully upgraded to v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-09-07 + Mastodon Bird UI 2.0.0rc49.

The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 167 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.3.0-beta.1+mementomods-2024-08-23.

This version contains some fixes to both Mastodon and Mastodon Bird UI. Our instance has been using the new grouped notifications feature for over a month now, but today on top of that we have the new content warnings UI available in our instance with bunch of other changes and fixes.

We also now have the new Administration and Moderation nav for admins and mods. The support for this has been added to Mastodon Bird UI nightly version.

As usual, please tell me about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.
