✨ Let's normalize resistance to #BigTech and #SurveillanceCapitalism

The links page of my website:

"I don’t use TikTok or platforms owned by Meta & co. for reasons I outlined in this blog post (TL;DR: behavior modification and illusion of connection for purposes of surveillance capitalism).

In case you couldn’t find me anymore, I recently deactivated my Instagram, Threads and LinkedIn profiles and I deleted my 3 Twitter accounts (since their change of ownership).

#Bossware is unfair (in the legal sense, too) – https://pluralistic.net/2024/11/26/hawtch-hawtch/#you-treasure-what-you-measure

This hawtch-hawtch metaphore by Dr. Seuss does indeed sumrises really well the shape 2.0. #neoliberalism and #surveillancecapitalism have taken over the last 20 years. As @pluralistic says it, we are becoming "reverse centaurs", that is, we are augmenting machines supposed to do our job better but can't. We are like Elon Musk's supposedly autonomous robots....humans disguised as robots.

On one hand, carmakers have discovered that cars are glorious sources to draw upon to squeeze more money out of people - be that subscription features or #surveillancecapitalism. (ref https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/24/rent-to-pwn/#more-5628 by @pluralistic )

On the other hand, we have gigantic API security holes you can about *literally* drive a car through, from causes as simple as:

❞“It’s really simple. They weren't checking if a user is a dealer,” says Rivera. “And that's kind of a big issue.”❝
