I know a number of the big name attorneys playing important roles in the #HarrisWalz fight to ensure ballot access this November - Marc Elias, Seth Waxman, and Vanita Gupta. These lawyers are crème de la creme: sharp as anything. Elias and Waxman bring with them younger lawyers who will put in hundreds of hours. All the attorneys involved will take time from their family and friends and put it into protecting the vote. 2/

The lawyers on the #HarrisWalz team will not charge for all the hours they put in. But the young lawyers especially cannot write off their time - they have student loan debt, young families, mortgages - all the usual expenses that have to be met. Throughout the states, Republicans are trying intimidate county election officials. One tactic, according to Marc Elias, is to submit spreadsheets of names to these officials that Republicans want removed from the voter rolls. Then, to defend these tactics, Republicans claim their activities are protected by the First Amendment.
