We went from a situation only 6 months ago where this issue was barely discussed in mainstream media in Finland to now where people are aware and angry that this kind of legislation is even being considered. This won't be swept under the carpet and forgotten ever again.
Any detailed review of #ChatControl exposes what this legislation entails: the mass surveillance of every citizen of the European Union.
Mass surveillance has no place in #europe.
After the decision on Finland's stance on Chat Control was deferred earlier this month, it was sent back to different committees for review.
Now the Transportation and Communications committee has sided against the proposal, stating that Chat Control would constitute widespread mass surveillance. ("...laajamittaista viestinnän massavalvontaa" in Finnish).
A staggering 175,000 people die from heat-related causes every year in Europe, and that figure is set to soar in line with our steadily warming planet. The UN World Health Organization says European countries are seeing temperatures rise at around twice the global average.
