Quoting an anonymous reservist who participated in the slaughter in Gaza and Lebanon:

"This thing won't be erased in the next hundred years. No matter how much Israel tries to hide, to blur - the destruction in Gaza will define our lives and our children's lives from now on. A testimony to unbridled rampage."

"It's clear to all of us, from the command center operator to the last fighter, that the political echelon doesn't know how the hell to continue. There are no targets to advance to, no political ability to retreat."

Most significantly, it’s about accountability:

"Where is the line between understanding the 'complexity' and blind obedience? When have you earned the right to refuse to be part of a war crime? That's less interesting. What's more interesting is when will the Israeli mainstream wake up, when will a leader arise who will explain to citizens what a mess we're in, and who will be the first kippah-wearer to call him a traitor. Because before The Hague, before the American universities, before the condemnation at the Security Council, this is first and foremost our internal matter. And that of two million Palestinians."

Also about the U.S. who makes it possible for Israel to continue and even intensify these wars.

"The ability to fight this way is made possible thanks to the stream of munitions that the #IDF receives from the United States, and the need to control the area with minimal forces stretched to the limit. This is true for both #Gaza and #Lebanon. The main difference between Lebanon and the yellow hell that surrounds us is the civilians. Unlike the villages of South Lebanon, the civilians are still here. Dragging themselves from one combat zone to another, carrying packed backpacks, jerry cans."

"In running an opinion piece that suggests it may now be acceptable to use the term genocide about Gaza, the Guardian has admitted it has been – even according to its own resident genocide expert – complicit in obscuring that genocide for a half a year.

Remember that when editor Kath Viner comes cap in hand once again, as she did this week, begging for money from readers for her brand of supposedly “fearless, independent journalism”.

I know it’s been shared widely but just in case anyone missed it: this is what Israel did whilst everyone was distracted by #USelections2024#Gaza

“Resettling or permanently reoccupying Gaza is not official Israeli policy, but senior Israeli defence officials recently told the Israeli daily Haaretz that with no other alternatives on the table, the government is aiming to annex large parts of the territory.”

Has anyone seen any good discussion or analysis of the potential long term impact the Israeli pager explosives attack may have generally on mass consumer confidence, not only in Israeli tech, but in consumer tech generally?

How on the nose is it to demonstrate so cleanly that the tech you buy is not trustworthy, harms people, is designed to exploit you, and may even. . . kill you? cc @pluralistic

@pluralistic This video essay touches on some of what I have been wondering about.

The channel is mostly China propaganda but the analysis of western espionage and potential impacts is not wrong, and at least reflect what China, the largest trade partner for most of the wold's countries, will be saying about Western tech globally.

Gaza death toll

The Palestinian Civil Defence says the true death toll in Gaza is likely much higher than more than 40,000 confirmed since thousands of people remain missing.

The organisation confirms that at least 10,000 Palestinians remain under the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israeli military attacks, and rescuers are unable to get to them due to the ongoing attacks, including the deliberate targeting of civil defence crews.
