The open web is amazing.

So we keep saying in our little subculture, e.g. at #xoxo on the weekend or all over the #fediverse and #indieweb. And generally are met with incomprehension outside of our little subculture.

IMHO that's because we are not saying **why** the open web is amazing.

I think it all boils down to: "on the open web, I can be much more creative, with minimum expense, than elsewhere, and so easily share my creations with the world."

The final #XoXo was a great experience. Sad to see it go. (There is a great opportunity for somebody to pick up the torch!! I would come.)

Most surprising, and gratifying for myself: about half of the people I mentioned it to had heard of #FediForum. The word must be spreading!!

Marveling, as so often, how it is that while #covid numbers are as high as they are, maybe just 2 out of every 100 people at the airport and on the plane wear a mask.

In the grand scheme of things, just how much bother is a mask, in comparison?

Glad that both events i have been going to this month — #dwebcamp and #xoxo — have sensible #covid policies.
